Kat Von D is an Mexican-born Argentine-American tattoo artist and television personality. Kat Von D got her first tattoo at 14, quiting school at 16 to become a tattoo artist. Von D began working at Miami Ink when tattoo artist Darren Brass broke his elbow, appearing in the first three seasons of the reality show Miami Ink.
Von D’s popularity in the Miami Ink series opened the door for her to be involved in her own reality series LA Ink following her work at her Hollywood tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo. During the run of LA Ink, Von D gained notariety by setting a Guinness World Record of most tattoos given by a single person in 24 hours, totaling 400 tattoos.
